Red Panda Does A Disappearing Act
In November 2005, Babu, a Red Panda from Birmingham Nature Reserve, disappeared for 4 days. Babu was eventually found dozing in a nearby tree. After being rescued by a tree-climbing specialist, he is now back safe and well in his home, and is more popular than ever with visitors!
• Like Giant Pandas, Red Pandas have a ‘mask-like’ look to their face, but instead of black and white, they have red and white fur.
• Like Giant Pandas, Red Pandas mainly eat bamboo but they also eat fruit and roots.
• Red Pandas like to sleep a lot – if you go to see one at a zoo, look for them snoozing in the trees.
• Red Pandas are endangered mainly due to loss of their habitat.
